PCB rejects BCCI’s hand behind Lanka delaying announcement of tour itinerary
Lahore, Jan. 3 : Despite India calling -off its cricket tour to Pakistan, relations between the two cricket boards have not suffered any dent.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected reports which suggested that the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) was behind the delay in Sri Lanka's confirmation of its tour of Pakistan.
"Despite the cancellation of the Indian team's tour, the PCB continues to have good relations with the BCCI," PCB chief operating officer Salim Altaf said.
The PCB has been assured that there are no delaying tactics being followed by Sri Lanka, and the final dates of the tour will be announced in few days.
"There has been no delaying tactics on purpose by the Sri Lankan board. They wanted to sort out some issues with their players regarding the tour itinerary and hopefully they would confirm the itinerary in next two or three days," the Daily Times quoted Altaf, as saying.
However, it seems that the cloud of uncertainty over the Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan is still hovering as the Sri Lanka Cricket has still not finalized the dates of the tour.
Chief executive of the Sri Lanka Cricket Duleep Mendis said that his board will consult the players before finalising Pakistan tour itinerary.
Refusing to set a date for finalizing the tour itinerary Mendis said: "There are few things which we're discussing with the PCB and our players and then we'll finalise the itinerary, may be in few days." (ANI)
