Pawar calls out in favor of PDS reforms
Union minister for agriculture and cooperation Sharad Pawar today highlight the requirement to start improvement, as well as the use of technology, to stop all excuses in the public distribution system (PDS).
He informs reporters here today it self that they have got criticism by the area concerning distraction of food grains from the public distribution system. It is the nation which shall act. There shall be a vigilance committee at the reasonable price shop-level, usual meetings and checking’s.
He confesses that the district had insufficient storage space facilities, which shaped troubles in making sure regular provisions to the PDS.
At present the storage space capacity of the FCI in the area is 4.58 lakh tones and that is insufficient to meet the PDS necessity.
He further added that captivating into thought the exact complexity of the area, the department has put a suggestion to build godowns, including a storage capability of 5.25 lakh tones, at a predictable cost of Rs 568 crore. The state administration shall move onward to take on the work out of recognizing appropriate land in all the chosen areas.
