Parliament’s Budget Session To Start From Feb 22
The parliament budget session will start on Feb 22 with a lengthy break of over three weeks in between.
Lok Sabha Secretary General P. D. T. Achary stated that President Pratibha Devi Patil will address the combined session of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, marking the opening of the fourth assembly of the 15th Lok Sabha.
In a statement, he said, "In order to enable the Standing Committees to consider the demands for grants of ministries, departments and prepare their reports, the house will adjourn March 16 to meet again April 12."
"Subject to exigencies of government business, the session is likely to conclude Friday, May 7," the statement added.
The initial week of the session is said to be the most meddlesome as rail budget will be presented on Feb 24. It will be accompanied by tabling of Economic Survey on February 25 and the Union budget on next day.
Parliament will enter a mid-session break on March 16 and tack together on April 12.
According to a declaration by the Lok Sabha administrative unit, the session will finish on May 7.
