Parents should discuss Alcohol related risks with children at the age of 9 years

It may be shocking for many, but the American Academy of Pediatrics has suggested that parents should have a direct conversation with their children about risks of alcohol before they are 10 years old. Many research papers have shared that children considered alcohol use as a positive thing much earlier.

Owing to commercials and peers, children are at risk of tasting alcohol for the first time. Before anything of such sort happens, parents should have a booze talk with their children. On Monday, the AAP's guidance was publicized.

As per experts, children can try alcohol between 9 and 13 years old and they find the experience to be pleasant. Dr. Lorena Siqueira, one of the AAP researchers who have issued guidance, shared that alcohol-related advertisements make children quite curious about the drink, encouraging them to taste it.

But the advertisements do not share about the risks associated with it. Therefore, it is very important for parents to tell children about the risks of the same when they are nine. Experts said that parents often are unaware of child's inclination to try and taste alcohol at an early age. It has been suggested that parents should discuss the risks of alcohol with children even if they think that their child is an angel and would do it. As per current reports, alcohol is one of the leading causes of death among children and teenagers.
