Palin Attacks Obama On “Spread Wealth Around” Comment

Palin Attacks Obama On “Spread Wealth Around” CommentAlmost immediately after beginning her evening speech at Shippensburg University in central Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Sarah Palin attacked Barrack Obama trying to peg him as a “socialist”, using an interview Obama did with Chicago Public Radio in 2001. Palin claimed that Obama - a former constitutional law professor - favors allowing the judiciary to seize property and personal income in order to “spread the wealth around.”

On the basis of the interview in which Obama uttered the phrase “redistributive change,” Palin accused the Democrat of wanting to re-write the Constitution to give the judiciary the power to redistribute wealth by confiscating the property and income of ordinary Americans.

Palin said: “Senator Obama said that he regretted, he regretted that the Supreme Court hadn’t been more radical and he described the Court’s refusal to take up the issues of redistribution of wealth as a tragedy. And he said that he also regretted that the Supreme Court didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers there in the Constitution, that’s a quote.”

However, fact-checkers noted what Obama called a “tragedy” in the interview was the civil rights movement’s focus on the court, rather than on “political and community organizing activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change.”

The GOP vice presidential nominee has also been attacking Obama’s tax plan as socialist in nature, and compared his economic plan to countries that do share income such as communist countries - making the link blatant without saying it explicitly!
