Pakistan emerges as new T20 championPakistan team, led by skipper Younis Khan has become new T20 champion after defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Pakistan chased a modest target of 138 in just 19.4 overs for loss of only 2 wickets with the help of a mature inning of all-rounder Shahid Afridi against Sri Lanka at the Lords on Sunday.

Afridi scored unbeaten 52 runs in just 40 balls and he also scored the winning run as Pakistan won their first major title after 1992 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari announced a cash prize of 500,000 rupees for each player of the Pakistan team and 10,00,000 rupees for the man of the match of the final, Afridi.

People in Pakistan came out in the streets to celebrate and dance after Pakistan's victory on the Sri Lankan team as this was a rare moment of joy for them as Pakistan has been hit by civil unrest and their troops are fighting in the North-West Frontier Province.
