Pak Taliban warn people to stay away from Pak I-Day celebrations

Pak Independence DayLahore, Aug 14: The Pakistan’s unit of the Taliban – the TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban – has reportedly warned people in the Swat tribal area to stay away from Independence Day celebrations today, a local TV report said.

Pakistan is celebrating its 61st Independence Day today, and the Taliban’s threat came last evening.

According to the report, Taliban spokesman Haji Muslim Khan said those who had destroyed Taliban’s houses would see their own houses destroyed.

He said people should stay away from the celebrations as the Taliban might target such gatherings, the Daily Times quoted the report as saying.

Meanwhile, the country’s Interior Ministry has warned of more suicide attacks in the country, saying a stolen vehicle of an intelligence agency’s female official might also be used for the purpose.

In the wake security threats, security has been put on high alert after this warning, sources in the Interior Ministry said and added that an explosives-laden trailer could also be used in the attack. (ANI)
