Over 40,000 Pirated Discs Seized Across MumbaiAccording to reports, more than 40,000 pirated discs of latest flicks worth Rs 42 lakh have been seized in anti-piracy raids carried out by an industry body of Alliance Against Copyright Theft (AACT) in coordination with police officials at different sites in Mumbai over the last one week.

Around 23,500 discs of Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor-starrer 'I hate Luv Storys' together with films like Rajneeti, Raavan, Housefull, Krantiveer were seized during a raid at a warehouse in Thane Rabodi.

One Bansi from Shivaji Chowk in Ulhasnagar is expected to be involved in the Racket. He is also suspected to be one of the biggest movie pirates since the time of video cassette plagiarization.

The police detained him and Yusuf Abdullah Shaikh during the raid.

In other raids carried out across Mumbai by enforcement agencies and local Police, 5,500 pirated discs were seized near Andheri station by the SS Branch. The police made three arrests during the raid.

Three raids were conducted near Bandra Talao and a total of 2,270 pirated DVDs of movies like Toy Story 3, Rajneeti and Kites, were seized. A raid in Pali Naka in Khar uncovered about 1,350 pirated DVDs of movies like Toy Story 3, Harry Potter 7 along with Ravaan and Rajneeti.

Another raid carried out near Andheri station fetched the group around 3,000 DVDs of the newest Hollywood and Bollywood releases. In a raid on Juhu Tara Road, under the jurisdiction of Santacruz Police, 1,160 DVDs were seized.

The Nagpada police conducted a raid and seized more than 1,000 pirated discs. Meanwhile, in various raids in Ahmedabad the police arrested a person and seized 44 DVD writers, 300 blank DVD, 700 DVD including prints of new movies. (With Inputs from Agencies)
