Oracle urges court to force Motorola to give Google related information
Oracle is urging a US court to ask Motorola to furnish information related to its lawsuit against Google.
Oracle has filed a motion in the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois urging for an order to Motorola to provide information and offer an executive to testify the implementation of the Android platform in smartphones.
Oracle aims to access the code downloaded by Motorola from Google's http://android.git.kernel.org website and also know abou any changes made by the handset maker to the code. It also wants to examine how the Android dx tool is used by Motorola.
The company is accusing Google of copying its technology in the Android dx tool. Oracle claims that the information will show if Motorola uses the infringing technology.
"Deposition is necessary to determine if Motorola uses the accused technology in developing applications for Android, because Motorola has not produced any documents regarding its internal application development," Oracle said.
Oracle has also said that it as been asking Motorola to prove the information and a witness since April 12 but the comoany has not responded to the requests. "Motorola has simply stonewalled, citing scheduling conflicts," it said.
