Oracle Records 25% Jump in Quarterly Profit

Oracle Records 25% Jump in Quarterly ProfitOracle Corp, the world's second-biggest software manufacturer, has announced its fourth-quarter profit, which grew by 25% as compared to the corresponding period of the last year.

During the same period of 2009, the company's profit stood at $2.36 billion.

The figures declared on Thursday by the California-based company surpassed analysts' anticipations.

Sales during the three month period, which ended on May 31, remained up by 39% at $9.5 billion.

The major contribution in the quarterly earnings was due to Sun Microsystems Inc, which Oracle purchased in the existing year and which returned to profit after the sale.

It was part of a spending spree for Oracle that expanded its product line and lowered its costs. Also helping the company was the end of the recession, which prompted customers to buy more of its programmes. (With Inputs from Agencies)
