Online outrage over The Honest Company’s Sunscreen ineffectiveness

Many consumers are expressing their outrage online for actress Jessica Alba and her company, saying the brand's sunscreen does not deliver what it promises and they have risked their health by getting exposed to the sun wearing the protection which is actually not effective.

Billion-dollar business of the ‘Sun City’ star deals in safe and eco-friendly household and baby care products. But the consumers have been left grunting due to ineffectiveness of the products. They took to social media to express their dissent and anger about the fake promises made by the brand's SPF 30 sunscreen.

The products boast about broad spectrum protection, but many disgruntled consumers shared snaps of their red, burnt skin after using the product. One consumer took to online retailer Amazon to say how terrible the product is and called it the epitome of the cheapest stuff people find at discount stores.

However, a representative for Alba's company said in a statement that only a few customers have faced problems after using the product. The rep added that the Honest Company leaves no stone unturned to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the product it sells. Customer feedback is the matter of paramount importance for the company, the rep said.

“Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the US Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant”, said the rep.
