Obama keeping himself updated on Mumbai terror strikes
Washington, Nov 28 : US President-elect Barack Obama is said to be getting regular briefings on the terror drama going on in Mumbai for the past three days, where terrorists are holding several people hostage in two five-star hotels.
According to The News, Obama is closely following the crisis in Mumbai, receiving regular intelligence briefings and speaking to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
“This morning, President-elect Obama spoke with Secretary Rice by phone to get an update on the situation in Mumbai,” the paper quoted an official in Obama’s transition office, as saying on condition of anonymity.
The official said that Obama was given an intelligence briefing on the terror attacks, and that he was receiving regular updates from the US State Department’s Operations Centre and the National Counter Terrorism Centre, the official said.
In what is being described as the biggest terror attack in India’s history, at least 125 people have been feared dead so far dead, and more than 350 people injured in Mumbai strikes. (ANI)
