Number of Uninsured Falls Significantly in US

The US government's Obamacare policy seems to have come a long way in bringing down the number of uninsured population in the country. A latest report of U. S. Census Bureau has noted the fall in the number.

The Bureau reported that the number of people in Washington State who were without health insurance has been cut by about 3,17,000 since 2014. The number is currently scaled at 6,43,000.

The experts credited the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Obamacare policy for the development.

Washington reported a fall in the number of uninsured residents since 2013 with 9,60,000 living without health insurance. The percentage of unissued fell from 14% in 2013 to 9.2% in 2014, as per the estmaites of the U. S. Census Bureau. This implied that nearly 91% residents in the state are now under the health insurance cover.

"If anything, the Census data confirm what we've seen since the implementation of the ACA," said Michael Marchand, Director of communications for the Washington Health Benefit Exchange, the state's insurance marketplace.

The expansion of Medicaid project, since 2013 via the Washington Apple Health plan has played a significant role in the area, said experts. Nearly 500,000 new individuals have registered so far since its inception. The enrollment turned out to be double the estimated number for the two year period, Marchand said.

Another parallel survey on the uninsured reported that the national rate of uninsured persons in US reduced from 13.3% to 10.4%.
