NTPC Yearly Net Profit Up 5.6%
The country's biggest power maker, NTPC has recorded a 5.6 per cent increase in net profit for the twelve month period ended March 31, 2010.
The company has registered a net profit of Rs 8,660 crore for the period under review as against Rs 8,200 crore during the last financial year.
NTPC, which appended 1,560 mega watts of power generation capacitance during the last fiscal, plans to add up 4,150 MW during the existing fiscal.
The company's total new capacity under construction was 17,830 MW.
Moreover, the company has sanctioned capex (capital expenditure) of Rs 22,350 crore for the current fiscal (2010-11).
NTPC chairman R. S. Sharma stated, "NTPC will soon sign a contract for the supply of 1.5 million cubic metres per day of natural gas from Reliance Industries."
The company is also proposing to establish two coal-fired power stations in Kazakhstan, Mr. Sharma added. (With Inputs from Agencies)
