North Zone has lifted the Deodhar Trophy title after defeating West Zone by 49 runs in the final match at the Motibagh Palace in Vadodara on Tuesday.

West Zone won the toss and opted to field first. North Zone led by skipper Virat Kohli scored 267 runs for nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. U Kaul was the top scorer with 67 runs while S Shawan contributed 48 runs.

Y Pathan, R Jadeja and R Sharma picked up two wickets each for West Zone while J Unadkat and I Abdulla chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing the target of 268 runs, West Zone top order collapsed as they lost their six wickets with just 108 runs on the board. But after that Yusuf Pathan smashed 80 runs in just 39 balls to raise some hopes for West Zone.

Pathan smashed three fours and nine towering sixes in his inning but failed to lead his team to victory as West Zone bundled out with 218 runs on the board.
