Lou Sanson appointed as head of Department of ConservationLou Sanson, the head of Antarctica New Zealand has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Conservation (DOC).

State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie announced the appointment of Sanson. He said that Sanson will serve as the head for a three year term and will be in charge of rolling out changes at DOC following its restructuring. He will head the department of about 1700 staff located in 99 separate locations around New Zealand.

The unemployment rate of 6.4 per cent is moderately higher than the 6.3 per cent expected by economists in the country. The country recorded unemployment rate of 6.2 per cent, which is its lowest level in three years. The data showed that 5,000 more people were looking for work and the participation rate increased 0.1 percentage point to 68 per cent.

Five Indian soldiers were ambushed and killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch sector early Tuesday.

"It is unfortunate that a difference is being created between the defence minister and the defence ministry. I think the defence minister only tried to present the entire picture based upon inputs which he must have gathered," Tewari said.

South Korea's money supply grows

The country's broad money (M2), rose 0.6 percent from a month earlier to a seasonally-adjusted $1.69 billion in June after gaining 0.1 percent in the prior month, reported Xinhua citing Bank of Korea.

The faster growth came after the government began conducting its supplementary budget worth $15 billion.
