Millennium Garden, proposed peaceful recreation center in Manipur
Imphal, Dec. 11 : Arun Yumnam has set up a special garden here to provide the comfort of garden-cum recreation centre for the people who wish to visit a place where they can relax and enjoy for some time.
The venture, which is yet to complete, is unique in the militancy-torn Manipur State.
A florist by profession Arun Yumnam wants to develop this recreation "Millennium Garden" at Haorang Sabal, Lamsang Kendra, 15 kms from Imphal, the capital city of Manipur.
Arun Yumnam said: “ Most importantly in Manipur, there is lot of arm conflict situation. People are generally full of tensions but there is no place for them to relax. I thought that setting up this sort of recreation center would benefit people as a whole."
Hundreds of people visit the garden everyday even when the garden has not fully developed. It has become a centre of attraction among locals.
The growing fascination to visit this park among local residents also reflective of the fact that people are fed up with a tension-filled environment and desire for an absolutely peaceful place.
S. Promila Devi, one visitor, said: “The people in Manipur want to live in peace. However, the situation is full of violence and killings. So this kind of recreation center will encourage the people and bring peaceful atmosphere."
Ak. Kumar Singh, one visitor, said: “We feel really peaceful after coming here. This recreation center gives us a peaceful environment."
The garden once completed will include a boat inside the complex for boating, a picnic spot, an old age home and a children park. The special garden is likely to be completed in two years.
It is hoped to offer a place for a peaceful recreation in the state. Such initiatives taken up by the people themselves in Manipur, will definitely pave the way for bringing peace and harmony in the State. (ANI)
