FC Sao Paulo three-peats as Brazilian champions
Sao Paulo/Brasilia - FC Sao Paulo won its third straight Brazilian championship with a 1-0 victory late Sunday at Goias in Brasilia.
The outcome set off street celebrations by hundreds of thousands of fans in Sao Paulo, a city of 20 million people and Brazil's business centre.
Behind Sao Paulo, qualifiers for the Copa Libertadores, South America's version of the Champions League, are Gremio, Cruzeiro and Palmeiras. Flamengo Rio de Janeiro fell short of qualifying for continental play, one point behind Palmeiras. (dpa)
