London, October 26 : Prince Harry’s ‘Sentebale’, a charity set up to help vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho, has landed in a feud over finances promised to an orphanage in Lesotho.

Lydia Muso, director of Lesotho Child Counselling Unit (LCCU), has allegedly said that she had to ‘beg and borrow’ despite being assured of financial assistance by the royal’s charity to keep the orphanage running.

She claimed that the safe house, that looks after 17 sexually and physically abused children, had at first received the promised financial aid from the charity launched by the prince in 2006.

However, Muso added that though she respected the young prince for his philanthropic efforts yet much time had passed since the LCCU received any further help.

“They [Sentebale] have promised us 500,000 South African rand for the day-to-day running of this sanctuary for children. But none of the money has arrived,” Times Online quoted Muso as saying.

“I have had to beg and borrow to pay the costs of seven staff, the lighting, the administration, the transport and even the food for the boys and girls. It is so unfair,” Muso added.

Meanwhile, Miguel Head , ‘Sentebale’ spokesman at Clarence House, explained that the charity still had plans to fund the orphanage but the delay owed to their discontent with Muso’s early request for funding to be transferred directly to her own bank account.

He said: “This year we still plan to give 38,000 pounds to LCCU and spend a further 27,000 pounds on management support and training.” (ANI)
