Paswan demands CBI probe into Kandhamal Violence
Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has softened his stand on Orissa violence. Now he has decided to demand for CBI enquiry rather than article 356. He would lead a delegation of eminent persons from all minority communities to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon to demand a CBI probe into the recent incidents in Orissa.
The minister met a delegation of prominent Christian leaders and described the violence against the community members as naked dance of communalism.
Alleging that law and order machinery has totally failed in the BJD-BJP ruled state, Paswan assured the delegation, that he will lead, will see that law of the land is implemented in the state.
The delegation comprised Archbishop Raphael Cheenath, Archbishop of Bhubaneshwar, Archbishop Vincent M Concessao and Archbishop of Delhi.
The delegation accused Orissa Govt. of adopting an attitude of apathy towards Christians. Paswan has criticized Orissa Govt. previously and demanded Presidents rule. Meanwhile the district administration of Kandhamal has lifted curfew from riot hit towns after 54 days.
Kandhamal violence has so far killed 40 people and left thousand people homeless. On the other hand the one man judicial commission appointed by Orissa Govt. has started its probe. Commission has visited Kandhamal on Saturday.
