Kerala Government Launched A New Health Scheme
CPI-M-led LDF government in Kerala has taken a major initiative for providing health facilities to the poor sections of the society. They launched a scheme of Rs 65-crore, which includes free treatment of children who are suffering from cancer.
In a press conference, Health Minister P K Sreemathi said the main objective of our scheme was to provide security to destitute, children, women, poor old-persons and people suffering from cancer. Out of Rs 65 crore, Rs 15 crore would be set apart for the treatment of children suffering from cancer.
She said: Our plan is to provide free treatment in government hospitals. It has also been in our plan to rehabilitate those, who were discharged from the hospitals, but have no place to go. A programme would also be undertaken to provide mid-day meal at Rs 2 to patients in government hospitals.
According to the State Labour Minister P K Gurudasan, on 2nd October a comprehensive Health Insurance scheme would be launched in the state, to be implemented with the assistance of centre under ‘Health for ALL’. The scheme under the Rshtriya Swathya Mima Yojana, is a unique scheme as it provide insurance cover to all the people of below poverty line (BPL) category.
The planning commission identify the category at free of cost. People of APL category, who want to join the scheme, have to pay a annual premium and registration fees.
