Government says over 500 carriers with essentials have entered SrinagarNew Delhi, Aug. 19 : The Union Home Ministry today said that in the last 24 hours a fleet of 548 load carriers carrying essential commodities, petroleum products and other items had entered Srinagar.

A ministry statement said that the vehciles entered the city between 2 p. m. on Monday and 2 p. m. on Tuesday, and added that of these, 83 were laden with rice, 28 with chicken, 22 with sheep and 25 with flour.

It said that as many as 109 tankers with LPG, petrol, diesel and kerosene oil had also arrived in the city during the past 24 hours, while another 281 load carriers had brought other items to the Kashmir Valley.

According to a spokesman of the Divisional Administration, 216 load carriers with fresh fruit and another 22 with vegetables lhad eft for Jammu from Srinagar during this period.

He said 30 load carriers with other items also departed from here to Jammu and onwards while 78 empty tankers also returned after unloading fuel in the summer capital.(ANI)
