Colombo  - A bomb exploded inside a passenger train in the outskirts of the capital on Monday evening, military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

The explosion went off as the train was reaching the Dehiwala station, 10 kilometres south of the capital.

Casualty figures were were not known immediately. (dpa)
