Ocean SUV production surpasses 3,000 units, Fisker eyes production boost in Q4
After rolling out more than 3,000 units of its battery-powered Ocean SUV in less than three months, Los Angeles, California-headquartered Fisker Incorporated is now gearing up to take production to even greater levels.
After facing several production setbacks and missing targets in recent quarters, the American EV startup seems to have found its stride in the third quarter (Q3). It successfully assembled and rolled out a total of 3,123 units of the all-electric Ocean SUV facility by the week of September 4 at Magna’s Graz-based production facility, which signalled a positive turn of events for the company.
In the Q2 period of current year, Fisker produced 1,022 Ocean SUVs, falling short of its expected figure of 1,400 to 1,700 units. During the preceding three months (Q1), the company could produce and roll out merely 55 SUVs.
In a bid to fast-track production, Fisker aims to boost daily manufacturing rates from approx. 180 units to roughly 300 units in the next quarter. In the United States, deliveries of the Ocean SUV to pre-order holders started in the month of June, with more than 450 units already delivered or on the way to customers. An additional 1,500 EVs are slated to reach U.S. customers before the end of this week. Meanwhile, European markets have received approximately 1,000 units of the Ocean SUV, with 325 already handed over to pre-order holders.
Henrik Fisker, the chairman and chief executive of Fisker Inc., said in a statement that customers and reservation holders remained the top priority for the company. Thanking everyone for their patience, he also promised that the company would start ramping up its daily production of the electric SUV.
Speaking on the topic, Fisker said, “Over 3,000 vehicles have been built to date, and we’ll soon be moving to approximately 300 vehicles per day with our manufacturing partner, Magna. In lockstep with this, customer deliveries will be expanding even more in the United States – from the East Coast to various other regions.”
Fisker aims to produce and roll out all the 5,000 units of the limited launch edition of the Ocean One SUV at the magna production facility by the end of September. This exclusive edition starts at $68,999.
The all-electric Fisker Ocean SUV boasts an impressive EPA-rated range of 360 miles for the top-tier Extreme trim, which comes equipped with high-capacity 113-kWh Hyper Range battery pack and 20-inch wheels.
