Blue Bell Creameries still not sure about when it will restart production

According to a Blue Bell Creameries spokeswoman, the company still does not know when it will continue producing ice cream, seven weeks after it stopped production.

However, according to the company, it is expected that the flagship plant in its Brenham headquarters will be re-launched after smaller plants in Sylacauga, Ala. and Broken Arrow, Okla.

The company told this in a 35-page response to the US Food and Drug Administration. The FDA had announced that it found Listeria in Blue Bell ice cream plants in Alabama and Oklahoma.

Report of the FDA on Blue Bell and the company's response came after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that it finished its investigation officially, with 10 affected by Listeria including three deaths caused by it. An ex-Houston resident who has filed suit against Blue Bell and a Florida retiree has not been included in that number. The resident filed the lawsuit saying he fell ill after consuming Blue Bell ice cream made in Alabama.

The company said that it will inform health officials at least two weeks before re-entering the market.

According to the report, "Due to the differing sizes and scope of work needed at the different facilities, we anticipate that the smaller facilities in [Broken Arrow and Alabama] will be ready to resume operations earlier than the main facility in Brenham".

The report said they have put back remedial action at their Brenham snack facility until they've finished work at other three facilities.
