A spokesperson for ShopRite said that they are informing their customers that prices of eggs can increase. It shall however, be noted that not all stores have passed on the increase in price to consumers.

John Anderson of the American Farm Bureau Federation affirmed that retailers will deal with prices based on their competitors. Meanwhile, Douglas Fisher, Secretary of Agriculture for New Jersey, was of the view that there is just increased awareness about the matter.

"We certainly want to give notice to all our producers, and even those with backyard flocks, of what to look for. We're passing out flyers to county boards and agencies around the state", said Fisher.
