Chicago Bus Crash: 1 Dead, 8 Injured

As per officials, one person died and eight were injured during an accident on Tuesday in Chicago when a bus ran up onto a downtown sidewalk.

Local officials affirmed that the incident took place at around 5.45 pm local time in which a Chicago Transit Authority bus has hit at least four vehicles and one pedestrian near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Lake Street.

The Chicago Tribune reported that a 51-year-old woman died in hospital and the bus driver has suffered minor injuries. An eyewitness told the newspaper that when a bus went on the sidewalk, a person fly up into the air.

Authorities concerned affirmed that it was not clear as what has caused the crash. They also affirmed that the incident took place when the bus was turning onto Michigan Avenue when it collided with at least three other vehicles.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said that in total, nine people in which two people were critically injured were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. One of the injured people is a 4-year-old girl, Ren, whose head hit on a car seat when the bus banged into her father’s vehicle.

Jack Baldwin, the man whose Nissan Sentra got rear-ended, was of the view that he is not seriously injured and affirmed that he is feeling lucky to be alive. Police is investigating the crash and the CTA would also examine surveillance footage from the bus.
