Police Keep 2 Groups having Different Ideologies about Islam Far Apart from each other
Police had a hard time on Friday as it tried keeping two different groups having different opinions about Islam apart from each other. Around 500 protestors were present outside a Phoenix mosque.
One of the rallies was organized by a Phoenix man who said that he is a former Marine and has taken part in the Ira War. He thinks that Islam is a violent religion was heading the rally of around 250 people who were carrying pistols, rifles, American flags and drawings of the Prophet Muhammad to the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix.
On the other hand, there was another group who was holding signs of promoting love and peace. They were present there to show their support for the mosque and Muslim community.
When both the groups met, they argued and had verbal flight. Dozens of police officers formed a line between them and ensured that the groups remain separated. There have been no reports of injuries or arrests at the protest that lasted for a few hours.
The incident has gained attention across the nation through social media. As per Phoenix police, there were around 500 protestors, roughly 250 on each side. The protest took place after a month of the shootout taken place outside a Prophet Muhammad cartoon-drawing contest in a Dallas suburb.
Two Phoenix men at the event having assault rifles were killed by police. The men used to worship at the Phoenix mosque where Friday's protest took place. Many followers of Islam find drawings of the Prophet Muhammad insulting.
