Mesabi Family YMCA to celebrate Healthy Kids Day
On Saturday, the Mesabi Family YMCA will celebrate Healthy Kids Day. During the event, the youth organization will allow children to play and be creative. In return, the most creative kids will win prizes.
The Mesabi Family YMCA’s annual event is free and open to all children. According to the organization, the event has been scheduled to take place on Saturday from about 11 am to 2 pm. Becky Zubich, CEO of the Mesabi Family YMCA, said that the Healthy Kids Day will be held at YMCAs throughout the United States. The CEO also said that the event is held throughout the country, but it is not a required event.
She said the organization has chosen to celebrate the day in the community due to healthy living, youth development and family focus of the organization. “Healthy Kids Day is an event to celebrate families and kids and provide the community with a variety of different healthy activities that are kid- and family- appropriate. At our Y (the event) has a long history”, Zubich added.
As per reports, this year’s Healthy Kids Day will include activities like climbing wall, open swim, messy art for all ages and pool games. The event will also host a children’s fitness challenge. Every participant will get a card to be checked off. When kids will complete the challenge, they receive gifts.
There will also be a toddler play area. At the area, there will be colored rice, cloud dough, shaving cream, and hand prints on a banner. In addition, there will be an ‘Earth Day’ activity. According to Jana Bloomberg, wellness director, every kid participating in the event will get prizes. There will also be a variety of information tables, she added.
