BEML bags orders worth more than Rs 500crPublic sector firm BEML Ltd has bagged orders worth more than Rs 500 crore from the Indian Railways and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

BEML, which operates under the Ministry of Defence, said that the Indian Railways placed an order worth Rs 450-crore-order for the supply of different types of coaches.

The manufacturer said in a statement, "The order amounting of Rs 450 crore from Indian railways is for supplying of 600 rail coaches, 72 AC EMU (Alternating Current Electrical Multiple Unit) coaches and 64 MEMU (Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit) coaches."

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also placed an order worth Rs 73-crore order with the Indian manufacturer for the supply of dumpers and excavators for its mining sector.

The BEML stock opened at Rs 300 a share and hit an intraday high of Rs 310.20 a share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). It touched an intraday low of Rs 298.

The stock is currently trading 56.18 per cent below its 52-week high and 13.94 per cent above its 52-week low. It hit its 52-week high of Rs 702.15 apiece on March 16, and a 52-week low of Rs 270.00 on August 28.

BEML's market capitalization, at present, stands at Rs 1,281.19 crore.
