Nokia releases its new HERE maps app for iOS
After having unveiled its free HERE maps app last week, Finnish handset-maker Nokia has now released the HERE for iOS app, which comes at a time when Apple's iOS 6 has given the Google Maps app a miss, to bring on its own new Maps app that has, disappointingly, been plagued with a number of issues.
The free Nokia HERE for iOS app - the layout of which is fairly akin to the Apple Maps app - is now available in the App Store, and can work on Apple devices which run the iOS version 4.3 or higher. Similar to the Apple Maps app, the HERE for iOS app also boasts voice-guided directions, which can be sorted by users via driving, walking, or public transportation.
The Nokia HERE maps app, which will gradually be rolled out across several mobile software platforms, gives the users the access to the company's new cloud-based map service; and offers most of the features which the users expect with their mapping solutions.
The wide array to views which the Nokia HERE Maps app provides includes map, satellite, live traffic, and public transport. So far as the traffic view is concerned, users have the option to drill down by congestion, accidents, construction, and other traffic-related aspects.
In addition, the HERE Maps app also features a "Collections" which makes it possible for the users to "collect places to remember" for future reference, and to even save a specific portion of a map.
