Dyson turnover crosses £ 1 billionUK's Dyson has achieved a major milestone by reporting an annual turnover of more than £ 1 billion due to strong sales in the US and Japanese markets.

Dyson, which is producer of vacuum cleaners, fans and hand dryers, was established by Sir James Dyson. The company said that its turnover rose to £ 1 billion compared to £ 887 million in 2010. The total earnings of the firm rose 30 per cent to £ 306.3 million.

The company said that it has seen strong growth in the US and Japanese markets and also pointed out that it will start selling its products in China from November. The company is increasing becoming a global brand as it sold more than 85 per cent of its products outside the UK in 2011 compared to just 30 per cent in 2005.

Chief executive Max Conze said, "We're ambitious - growing in existing markets, entering new ones. For the remainder of 2012, we will launch more technology and establish Dyson in China to tap the vast potential in Asia."

Dyson claimed that it is the best selling upright vacuum cleaner brand in the US market with a market share of 27 per cent. The company now employs about 4,000 people around the world.
