Leaked images hint at new 'Kindle Paperwhite' e-reader

Leaked images hint at new 'Kindle Paperwhite' e-readerWith speculations galore that bigwig online retailer Amazon will likely unveil its new Kindle devices at a September 6 event in Los Angeles, The Verge has recently obtained some leaked images which hint at a new ‘Kindle Paperwhite’ e-reader.

The images obtained by The Verge, which has refrained from disclosing the source of the leak, unfold a device which is fairly akin in shape to the earlier generation of Kindle e-readers, though it no longer features the button underneath the display and has a notably darkened bezel.

Apparently, the leaked images which The Verge has obtained are a part of a Kindle promotional package that is chiefly aimed at French-speaking users. Although the images refer to the leaked device – largely an upgraded version of the Kindle Touch - as ‘Kindle Paperwhite,’ there is no substantiation as to whether that is the new moniker of the device.

It is quite possible that the ‘Kindle Paperwhite’ name may refer to the screen of the leaked Kindle because the display in the leaked images appears to be strikingly brighter than the Pearl E Ink screen used on the previous versions of the Kindle.

With the ‘Paperwhite’ screen offering a much better experience over the e-ink fidplay that Amazon uses in the existing Kindle Touch e-readers, the leaked images chiefly tout that the ‘Kindle Paperwhite’ will boast “higher contrast, high resolution, integrated lighting, and eight weeks of battery life.”
