Odisha Administration To Investigate ‘Sunstroke’ Demises
The Odisha administration is ready to investigate reports of 37 cases of sunstroke demises.
The mercury levels have been particularly high this summer season, and the temperature has been more than 40 degrees for the past two weeks.
On Thursday, state’s revenue and disaster management minister S N Patro stated that they have got reports regarding the demise of 37 individuals from sunstroke thus far.
“However, only one case from Angul has been confirmed. We are awaiting confirmation from various district collectors about 17 other cases,” Patro added.
He also said that the 19 other demises were not cause by sunstroke.
The administration plans to give Rs 10,000 to the family members of the sunstroke sufferers from the CM’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
Patro said that the administration is taking different action with the aim to lessen sunstroke demises comprising awareness drives.
He added that the assistance from the central administration wasn’t forthcoming.
The state administration proposes to launch exclusive wards at special hospitals for the treatment of sunstroke patients.
In addition, the administration has forwarded notices to the concerned sections to guarantee water supply, electricity and enough stock of emergency medications at hospitals to fight the heat.
