Google Street View could allow views inside shops, restaurants
Internet giant, Google is testing a new aspect for its Google Street View feature of Google Maps, which will allow viewers to see inside shops, restaurants and other such establishments.
A test program launched by the company in April last year is offering a growing collection of images taken inside businesses that accepted to be part of the project. Several small business establishments in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States have invited Google photographers to take pictures inside their establishments an include them in the Google Street View of the software.
Google spokeswoman Deanna Yick said, "We've been seeing renewed interest in the past few days because, as promised, we're getting more imagery online. The 360-degree views are really visually engaging, so we're glad users are excited."
Google Maps product manager Gadi Royz explained in a blog post that the viewer can see the business from inside and decide if he/she will visit it personally. The company ahs taken the precaution and is blurring faces of bystander to allay privacy concerns linked to the feature.
Google will use fish-eye lenses to create impressive 360 degree views of the selected indoor locations.
