Windows 8 will boot faster, claims Microsoft

Windows 8 will boot faster, claims MicrosoftSoftware giant, Microsoft has claimed that the next version of Windows operating system, the Windows 8 powered devices will have a faster boot up time than Windows 7 devices.

The company has released a video showing a device starting up from a cold state within two seconds. The device in the video uses a solid state disk (SSD) allowing faster reading of data. The company is planning to present Windows 8 to developers and analysts at its big conference in Anaheim, Californis. The new version will be shipped over the next year.

Steven Sinofsky of Microsoft said in a blogpost, "When it comes to talking about fundamentals we want to start with boot time - no feature gets talked about and measured more. We designed Windows 8 so that you shouldn't have to boot all that often. But when you do boot we want it to be as fast as possible."

A research conducted by the company shows that about 45 per cent of Windows 7 users on laptops and 42 per cent of all Windows 7 users choose sleep mode for their devices. Several smartphone users too leave their phone on sleep mode. The sleep mode has seemed to inspire the new Windows 8.
