Top Level Domain Holdings to operate gTLD
Top Level Domain Holdings is planning to exclusively acquire and operate new generic top-level domains (gTLDs), which were earlier known as categories.
These categories included gov, edu, com, mil, org and net allowing differentiation in different organizations working in different areas. Top Level Domain Holdings is now the only publicly-traded company to focus specifically on gTLDs.
As the internet has grown in proportions there is demand for more generic top-level domains of three or more characters. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has announced in June that any "entity" will be able to apply for new gTLD between January and April of 2012.
There are currently 22 gTLDs, which will now open to any work in any language. Some suggest that company will have pay huge admin fees and fight legal battles. This has prompted Daniel Stewart to advice investors to look closely on Top Level Domain Holdings during January and April next year.
Stewart has estimates that the each share of Top Level Domain Holdings is now worth 19.6 pence, while they were trading at 7.3 pence each on Friday afternoon.
