GameStop offering perks to calm usersGameStop is now in damage control mode trying to calm the customers, wh were angered by removal of coupons for a competitor that were in boxes for a popular video game.

The company is offering a $50 gift card and a "Buy Two, Get One Free" used game purchase coupon to all the users who bought the coupon-less game. Custoerms were angry when they found that the company had pulled coupons from the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution for a free OnLive version of the game that costs $50.

GameStop did not want the customers to try a rival's cloud gaming platform but users were unhappy about the removal of upon included in the box by game publisher Square Enix. Square Enix has said that it did not inform GameStop about the coupons in advance has now agreed to take back any unsold copies to remove the coupons.

GameStop's CEO, Paul Raines apologized to the customers in an email and said that he intends to win back their trust. "We regret the events surrounding this title release and that our customers were put in the middle of this issue between GameStop and Square Enix, the publisher of this game. And for this, we are truly sorry," he wrote in the email.
