AT&T All Set to Takeover T-Mobile
On Wednesday, AT&T has claimed that around 100 U. S. mayors have expressed support for its proposed acquisition of mobile rival T-Mobile USA. In addition, the AT&T officials have claimed that the acquisition would play a role for the expansion of their 4G network to more corners of the U. S. T-Mobile's spectrum and also to improve mobile service for existing customers.
"This letter is riddled with distortions and factual inaccuracies”, added Spokesperson Margaret Boles. "T-Mobile consumers will be able to keep their rate plans for as long as they want to, even when upgrading to a comparable device, once the merger is completed.
Further, T-Mobile consumers will not be required to upgrade their phones”.
In a statement Mayor Francis Slay of St. Louis has expressed confidence that the alliance will enhance the availability, speed and reliability of mobile broadband.
Further, he said that the merger is expected to promote innovation from device makers, apps developers, customers and content creators that did not exist earlier.
On the other hand, opponents of the deal have claimed that the acquisition will eradicate one of four mobile carriers with a nationwide reach and cited that most T-Mobile spectrum overlaps with existing AT&T coverage.
