Notice issued to Talcher Super Thermal Power Station
After the Pollution Board Notice that has revealed the functioning of the power station, there is trouble smelling everywhere. The Talcher Super Thermal Power Station, from Kaniha is brewing something fishy again.
They have been issued a show cause, and there has been a detailed explanation demanded on why the levels of emissions of their suspended particle matter has exceeded the limits.
The crux behind the matter is that it was found out that the TSTPS electrostatic reactors are not functioning to their best levels and this is perhaps the reason they are emitting high levels of emissions. This can be very harmful for the environment.
"We are losing paddy and other crops every year because the ash water gushes into our field through cracked pipes and leakages in the ash pond”, a resident of Kaniha village Sudhakara Pradhan said.
"The ash water gushes into river Tikira and other water bodies in the area regularly due to lack of maintenance of the pipes. Despite repeated reminders, the NTPC officials never took any steps in this regard”, he added further.
It was revealed by a NTPC official that there are talks being held by the OSPCB officials with Delhi officials who are at campaign in Bhubaneswar.
