Motorola to launch Photon 4G on Sprint
Phone maker, Motorola has announced its new WiMax-based Photon 4G smartphone for Sprint network at a media event in New York.
The Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch screen, dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 camera, 1 GB of RAM and 8 megapixel rear camera. The device will run Android 2.3 and will come with a kickstand.
The Photon 4G is expected to be available this summer and will be one of the most powerful phones on Sprint. Motorola has lagged behind rivals like HTC and Samsung, who launched their Evo 4G and Epic 4G samrtphones, respectively months before the company’s foray into the 4G.
Motorola claims that it is already selling a 4G phone, the Atrix. However, it uses an older technology and experts say that the technology is called 3.5G. Motorola has delayed the launch of its true 4G phone, the Droid Bionic on Verizon by months.
Motorola has also announced another smartphone, the Triumph for Virgin Mobile.
