Bharti Airtel, Aircel to offer iPhone 4 in India
Two telecom operators, Bharti Airtel Ltd. and Aircel Ltd have announced on Wednesday they will launch the much anticipated Apple iPhone 4 in the Indian market on May 27.
The fastest growing, India mobile telephone market has seen a lot of consumers choosing smartphones and the operators are aiming to tap into the demand by offering the latest Apple gizmo, which has been selling like hot cakes from shelves around the world.
Aircel has said that it will offer the new model of iPhone with both post-paid and pre-paid subscription plans. The 16 GB model will be priced at Rs. 34,500 while the 32 GB model will be priced at Rs. 40,900 on Aircel.
The operator said in a statement that the users will be able to recover the cost by way of monthly credits in their subscription accounts over 24 months. It also said that the prices will not remain exact o different states due to changes in tax rates.
Bharti Airtel said that its also offer the device under similar subscriptions and pricing. Both the operators have 3G services in 13 of the country's 22 telecom service areas, something that will allow them to offer high speed services to Apple iPhone users and boost up data usages.
