Jeera January contract gained Rs 51 and settled at Rs 14147 a kg as buying erupted at lower levels though traders waited for the sowing progress report. Expectations of rising export and domestic demand amidst low stocks have led the prices higher though good weather in growing areas in Gujarat and Rajasthan limited the gains. Unseasonal rains in October have pushed back jeera sowing by more than a fortnight in Gujarat. Area under jeera may come down in Gujarat this year because of delayed sowing. The arrivals of the jeera surged to 2,500 bags from 2,400 bags that were reported last day. In Unjha, a key spot market in Gujarat, jeera gained 89.7 rupees to end at 14286.35 rupees per 100 kg. The contract made intraday low of Rs 14060 a kg and high of Rs 14235 a kg. Support for jeera is at 14060 below that could see a test of 13972. Resistance is now seen at 14235 above that could see a resistance of 14322.
