Medical Experts Call For Alertness On Cerebral palsy
The brain-related illness Cerebral palsy is the main cause of disability among kids and its early diagnosis is important in addressing the condition in an effective manner.
The announcement has been made by medical experts on the occasion of International Disability Day on Friday.
Dr, Monika Juneja, incharge of child development clinic at Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi said, "Cerebral palsy can be dealt with affection, and if proper care of the child is taken. But, the problem is that people are unaware about this disorder. That is making it one of the major causes for disability among children."
Specialists engaged in rehabilitation of kids suffering from cerebral palsy stated that impairment caused because of brain damage was the commonest cause of childhood disability.
According to them, alertness is needed as the disability is hindering lives of patients as well as their families in spite of the possibility of numerous medical treatments.
Doctors guess around 3 cases of the illness per 1,000 live births, whereas almost 25 lakh people are affected by Cerebral palsy in India.
"The earlier the treatment begins the more chances children have to overcome their disability," Juneja added.
Dr. G. P. Dureja from the Delhi Pain Management Centre said, "There is a need to educate people on dispelling the social and medical myths associated with the disease. Cerebral palsy is curable, and is a development-related disorder."
