Stress - A Major Cause Of Developing Breast Cancer

Breast CancerLondon: Suggestions for working women, especially those who do the graveyard shift, just don’t allow job stress destroy your physical condition.

A recent study by European scientists has revealed that women who feel strained on the job could be at a noticeably increased risk of having breast cancer.

In reality, the study has discovered that women in demanding jobs and those who do the night shift are 30 per cent more expected to have the disease as compared to those who feel on top of their work.

Lead researcher Dr Hannah Kuper, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, “Work stress could also potentially weaken the immune system.”

The scientists came to the final decision after analyzing the information on 36,000 Swedish women between 30 and 50 who were in work when the study began in 1990.

The study observed the women till 2004, by that time 767 of them had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

According to the results, the breast cancer risk augmented by about 30 per cent for women with nerve-racking jobs after other constituents including alcohol intake, number of children, weight and age, were taken into consideration.

The cause why strain might raise the possibility is not clear, although the study shows that it may increase levels of the hormone oestrogen that intensify the cancer risk.

A new theory is that strain alters women’s conduct, making them take on unhealthful habits including smoking and not doing workouts regularly.

But, the outcomes of the newest analysis contravene earlier research that has not discovered a connection between stress and breast cancer.
