Chennai-based TVS Motor Company has registered an increase of 34 per cent in its sales during the last month as against the same period of last year (August 2009).

Registering increase in all the three sections including motor cycles, scooters and three wheelers, TVS Motor sold 170,735 units in August 2010, which was up from 127,875 units sold during August 2009.

During August 2010, TVS Motor sold 167,109 two wheelers (domestic 148,081 units, exports 19,028 units) as against 126,842 units (domestic 115,095 units, exports 11,747) sold during the same period of last year (Aug 2009).

For the period April to August this year, cumulative sales of two wheelers stood at 786,256 units as against 594,927 units during the like period of 2009.

In the two wheeler section, TVS Motor sold 40,913 scooters, 66,574 motor cycles and 59,622 mopeds during the last month as compared to 28,582 units 51,127 units and 47,133 mopeds sold in August 2009.

A recent participant in the 3-wheeler market, the company sold 3,626 units in August 2010, which was up from 1,033 units sold during August last year.

For April to August 2010, cumulative three-wheeler sales stood at 14,533 units.
