Nintendo DSi sales soar by 40 percent

Nintendo DSi sales soar by 40 percent There is a trend shift increase in sale of Nintendo's portable gaming console, where the DSi, sales have shot up by nearly half week-on-week, after launching the campaign called "price crash". The market watchers claim that price deduction has not been seen in DS Lite or the DSi XL. But the DSi saw a dip in the gadget price nearly by £30 down from £160 in mid-June to £130. Some supermarkets such as Asda or Sainsburys have even dropped the price of the console to £95 or less.

Nintendo's head of communications, Rob Saunders, said, "Since the adjustment in trade price has been passed on to consumers, each of the previous three weeks have seen DSi sales increase by over 40% week-on-week," reports MCV.

Supposedly it is assumed that this dip in price is all done for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS which apparently is months away from its launch. Also, the console is credited to offer 3D effects without the need for additional 3D glasses. It is pretty obvious that Nintendo wants to empty the stock before 3DS comes up.
