Condoms serviced as home-deliverable products
A local household, at Dwarka, Delhi has started supplying contraceptives and condoms on call.
The housewife cum entrepreneur, Ritu Nath, has initiated a unique way of business keeping a track on social stigma. She has started a website, kamyantra. com, which home delivers the condoms or contraceptives for those who feel embarrassed to buy in person.
Nath explains that, "One day I saw a young boy looking very embarrassed and not being able to purchase condoms with women being present in the chemist shop. The idea then occurred to me to start a service which can deliver condoms, birth control pills, emergency contraceptives, pregnancy test kits, etc to your doorstep."
Prior to this, the businesswoman thought of availing the service through phone, but then realised that it made her vulnerable to obscene calls from those who misconstrued it to be an escort service in disguise. And then the plan to launch the website came up which eventually became popular to a great extent.
However one need to place a minimum order for Rs 150 to cover cost, the advantage customer gets is that they supply after checking the expiry date on the products, which many ignore, thus giving an incomplete protection.
