Strike talks at British Airways break up without agreementStrike talks at British Airways have broken up without an agreement, the conciliation service Acas has said.

BA cabin crews were set to begin a five-day walkout Sunday. . "BA and Unite met (Friday) ... Talks were adjourned without the parties reaching an agreement and Acas will be in contact with both parties to arrange future talks," Sky News quoted an Acas spokesperson as saying.

Cabin crews were planning 10 more days of strikes in a dispute over pay and working conditions, including the five-day walkout set to begin Sunday. Unite had just concluded five days of strikes, the report said.

Another five days of strike action are planned from June 5 if an agreement is not reached, the report further added.

The airline has been operating with half its services at London's Heathrow, but services at Gatwick and London City airports were not affected, Sky News has said.

The BBC also reported that the Unite union said 121 flights out of 333 flights scheduled to leave Heathrow on Friday were canceled.

But, the BBC further said that in national newspaper advertisements, the airline said it flew to 87 percent of its long-haul destinations and 100 percent of its short-haul destinations during the strike. (With Inputs from Agencies)
