Rs 10,000 crore allocated for job scheme
Planning Commission Member Abhijit Sen has informed that the Government has allocated a sum of Rs 10,000 crore for the scheme for unemployed persons in the country. The scheme for these unemployed persons is Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Moreover, a good amount of money has been allotted to this scheme in the year 2009-10 too, but it remained unspent. As per sources due to strict discipline in its implementation this money could not be implemented for its purpose.
However, this year the Planning Commission has informed that the scheme is getting huge lot of financial support from the Government. But its proper implementation is yet to be happen.
Mr. Abhijit Sen has said this while he was present in Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC). He was delivering the Prof L S Venkataramanan Memorial Lecture on "Inclusive Growth" at the institute and has informed about such policy. He has also said the Rs 45,000 crore has been allotted by the UPA Government for the scheme for the year 2009-10. Due to less corruption, strict monitoring, discipline and social auditing this money could not be utilized properly.
